APv1 help NEED ASAP

I forgot to bring the included cable with the accessport for serial to AP connection. Trying to put vf39 map on and can't get computer to recognize, i get the 0x5b4 code from Map Manager. I bought a straight DB9-DB9 female RS232 cable. Do i need a null modem adapter to get it to connect? I dont think there's any interfering devices.

get on nasioc, iwsti, iclub, clubwrx and try to find somebody in your hometown with one. its christmas so people should be mroe willing to help out.
