engine/turbo noise???

for some reason..recently when i hit full boost in low revs..example:full boost at around 20lbs at 3k in 4th,5th,or 6th gear..i get a hard to describe sound..kinda like something grinding or rubbing under the hood..it does it while its spooling..once i hit around 16 to 20 lbs or so it stops....im not much of a mechanic but i'd say something is wrong with my turbo..it doesnt do it every time and i dont hear any noise at all if im running high revs..any ideas?

sure it is not a fluttering sound? Mine would do that around the ranges you describe and then fall off at the end

Other than the description of the sound, I would agree that it sounds like wastegate flutter, but it would be a flutter, not a grinding...

I have noticed the fluttering sound in my car. Is this an issue that needs to be corrected, or is it normal? What can be done to fix it?
