Emily and Me- 2000 Subaru Legacy

So a couple of months ago I bought my girl. I've gotten really busy over the past couple of months with a new job and moving. But I've decided since I'm having problems with her, to start keeping a journal. I would like to mod her out as much as possible. Here is what she looks like.

I'm open to any advice as to what to do to her to make her run better and look better. For now, My main goal is to get her running right and fix all the minor blips I'm having with her at the moment.

As of next week, I am going to be replacing the valve cover gasket, knock sensor, right control arm, tie rod, Tune up, and oil change. The next things to be done is paint. As you can tell from the pictures, she hasn't been very taken care of on the exterior. She just needs a little TLC

kinda OT but how do you like driving with the gear selector in the "pattern" that it is, as opposed to a straight up and down. i know its probably confusing, but im looking at retrofitting one of those gear selectors into my 2000 rs and just wondering if you like it or not.
