My 1999 2.5RS!!

I'm finally around to telling my story. It's going to be LONG!!

Ironically, the whole basis of me getting a japanese car was after seeing F&F (insert jokes here ). I was dead set on picking up a 1996-97 Eagle Talon TSi. Turbo, AWD, the whole nine yards...boy am I glad I NEVER went down that road!! lol. Other than that, my options I gave myself were:

1999 Honda Civic Si
2002 WRX
1999 2.5RS

Any of the 4 had to be blue. I REALLY wanted a blue car. After having white, and 2 blacks, I was dead set on blue.

My previous cars in order:

1993 Ford Escort LX - POS
1991 VW GTi 8v. great little car, but POS. I miss that car.
1983 Mazda RX-7. This was my 'my other car is broken (happened a lot) and I need a beater, car.'

So, I've narrowed it down to the RS. I didn't quite know I wanted a 99, just know that I wanted THAT blue. I saw the BRP and wasn't a fan. And I wanted a coupe. So I searched...and searched...and searched.

6 months later, after searching DAILY for the RS, I found one in Charlotte, NC at Carmax. I called up the Kennesaw Carmax and had them do some background for me. The charlotte store said this car was perfect and with no issues. They JUST got it in on trade and had someone interested. My rep got back to me and I had them ship the car down. I was buying this car. period.

So, a couple days later, they have the car shipped from Charlotte to Kennesaw. I got the financing and went up with a check to get the car. Then I get this story. One the way down to the Kennesaw store, the transporter was being followed. As he pulled in, the car pulled in behind them. They wanted to buy MY car on the transport. They approached the driver and he said it was a transfer. Went into Carmax and they informed the guy that it was as good as sold. Guy left. Next day, after it was cleaned, it sat out on the lot, in the 'pending sale' area. As it sat there, two seperate people looked at it and were interested. This was in Sept 2001, one week after 9/11. One of the two were almost in the car and out on a test drive when they found out it was pending sale. They were denied said test drive.

So, that's 3 people in 2 days wanting this car. After I heard that, I knew it was a great car and sought after. Which meant when it was mine, I was never going to let it go. I did test drive it before I bought it so I knew I still wanted it. It had about 40 more horsepower than the current GTi, so that was a bonus. Day comes to buy the car and everything goes as planned. As it sat in the pick up garage, I'm peeling off the carmax sticker on the trunk I picked up the car on my first day of vacation, so I could spend an entire week just driving it and getting to know her. She's my baby!

AS I just purchased this car, I was ecstatic. I was searching the internet high and low for parts I could put on to help the car. mostly cosmetic, as I hated all the amber in the car. I'm on ebay and bidding on some clear corners and sidemarkers. I get outbid at the last minute. I was pissed. I emailed the seller and complained. Not caring about the ways of ebay. That's when the seller advised me to look into i-club. I-club USED to be NASIOC. There was a split in late 2002 that turned the one into two. It was all down hill from there. I've made some of the best friends on that site.

Then, in 2003, Alex came into nasioc and started talking about making an atlanta exclusive site. Here comes wrxatlanta.com. I was the first to give him shit about the name. Why do you have to be elitist? I asked. It was just the name they came up with. At the end of the day, I was/am number 3 to join

It's been a great ride. Some of the best times were had because of this club, you guys and nasioc.

Now to the list of stuff on my car, past/present:

JDM clear corner lenses
JDM clear turn signals
JDM clear sidemarkers
Apex`i catback made by rallispec. I swear it was a prototype since it never fit quite right. And melted the hell out of my bumper.

That's about it for now....sorry for being so long, and I'm barely done!!!

that's all for now.

Moving story, one of the cleanest rs's out there. It's always fun buying cars and having a story to go with it.

Moral of the story is RS's own all

Adam, this thread took me about an hour to write up! I'm barely halfway done with it, but i had to finish. I'll post up some more soon. It's like a serial.
