4eat is cool?

Impreza WRX models ordered with the 4-speed electronic automatic transmission (4EAT) feature Variable Torque Distribution (VTD) All-Wheel Drive. The VTD system uses an electronically controlled hydraulic transfer clutch that works with a planetary gear-type center differential to control power distribution between the front and rear wheels. VTD All-Wheel Drive splits the power 45 percent front/55 percent rear, with the slight rear-wheel bias enhancing the performance driving feel. VTD All-Wheel Drive constantly monitors throttle input to account for weight transfer and responds to driving conditions to continually optimize power distribution on all road surfaces.

well now... didnt know all that..... apprently the mannual is 50/50 all the time is more like a tractor in terms of tis AWD system

Kinda grasping at straws...

There is really no point in trying to show that the 4eat is "better", because for every "good" in our catagory there's like 5 in the 5MT's.

And I'm an auto guy. We like it better, nuff said.

Yeah my car drove a whole lot differently with the auto. The 4100 rev TC was fun, I kinda want to drive an auto wrx with similar mods without it but it was a blast while it lasted.

The WRX 4EAT is much nicer than the N/A automatics which are normally a 90/10 power split and dont get the fine tuning that the turbo models get.

I used to have a 4eat wrx and it was fast after I did the protorque tc high stall mod (with tranny cooler). You can actually rev it to launch, unlike stock where you can't. I could rev it to 4500 rpms (enough to spool a big turbo)!
